What’s In My Beach Bag

BeachBag

This past weekend I spent with my boyfriend and several of our friends at his fraternity formal. Most fraternities at our school schedule trips for their formals where each member can take one date and usually spend the weekend in the mountains or at the beach. So of course I had the great idea to do a what’s in my beach bag post because now that the weather is warming up and summer is rolling around I’m sure many of you are planning on going to the beach or even the pool!

The bag

You’ll obviously need something to carry everything in. I use my Thirty One tote that has water proof material on the inside in case my towel, bathing suit, or anything else is wet.

Coverup

A coverup is essential for protecting your skin from the sun or even wearing to the store or restaurant after you’ve been at the beach all day. Mine is a white crochet style top from Marshall’s.

Sunglasses

One of the most important things to bring is a pair of sunnies, otherwise you’ll be squinting the whole day and trust me you’ll get annoyed quickly from that! Mine are the New Wayfarer style glasses from Ray Ban.

Sunscreen (and lots of it)

Yeah we all want to be tan, but we definitely don’t want to be burnt. I use SPF 15 sunscreen that also helps with tanning as well as a stronger SPF sunscreen for my face.

Koozie

To put all your lovely beverages in of course! Whether it’s your water bottle, soda, or a nice cold Corona having a koozie is a necessity to keep your drinks cold, plus they come in lots of styles like my Vineyard Vines whale koozie (it’s a crowd pleaser).

Cosmetic case

This is important to carry a few essentials like powder, mascara, face brush, and eyelash curler. I also throw in a hand sanitizer and hair tie for obvious reasons. This is great for going out right after the beach when you need to spruce yourself up a little. My makeup case is from Vera Bradley.

Book

Whether it’s a book, magazine, or tablet, I suggest bringing something to read while you’re laying the beach. It’s perfect time to catch up on that novel you’ve been putting off from reading!

hat

Whenever I’m at the beach or outside in the sun for long hours I tend to always wear a hat, whether it be a sun hat or baseball cap I always keep my face and head covered.

There’s nothing better than packing up and heading to the beach for today, just remember to pack these essential items to make your day at the beach a perfectly planned one. I hope this helped some of you to pack for your next beach or pool day! Comment below and let me know your must have item in your beach bag!

Everyday Makeup Essentials

makeup

We all have those products, the ones we buy again and again because they are the best thing since sliced bread. All these lovely makeup items happen to be just that to me, my favorites and the products that I use every day.

Naked Palette

One of the most important products to my daily makeup routine is my Naked palette. It is the original palette, but I adore it. The colors I use the most are Virgin, Naked, Buck, and Dark Horse depending on the look I’m going for.

Smashbox camera ready bb cream

This stuff is amazing! It’s perfect for women like myself who don’t need full coverage foundation but want to even out the skin tone. It doesn’t feel cakey or packed on, it’s light and feels like you’re not wearing anything.

Maybelline Dream Wonder powder

I can not rave about this powder enough. It is the perfect powder for keeping your face matte all day while still giving a light coverage. Combined with the Smashbox BB Cream you get a nice airbrushed look.

Mac sunbasque blush

I’ve had this blush for sometime and it is the perfect every day color. It isn’t shimmery but instead it is matte. The color is darker so it gives you a more natural flush.

Benefit high beam

Although this bottle is tiny, this stuff lasts a long time and a little goes a long way. It gives your face the perfect dewy look that everyone loves. It is easy to apply and blend and add more depending on the look you want. I’m obsessed with all Benefit things!

benefit erase paste concealer

This is my holy grail concealer, it provides great coverage for under the eyes as well as problem spots. It doesn’t crease or feel cakey, which is a plus.

These products are just a few of my every day essentials that I thought I would share with y’all. If you’ve tried these products before let me know your thoughts on them. As for your makeup essentials, what are they? I love learning about new great products!

Planner Organization

Planner College and life in general can get pretty tough when your schedule is slam packed. Today I am going to show y’all how I keep my self organized with my planner. The actual “planner” I use is in fact not even a planner it is a Cahier Journal from Moleskin notebooks. It’s a little black thing with grid lines that I use for anything and everything. IMG_0376

Monthly Calendar

The first thing I always have in my planner is a drawn out monthly calendar, yes I draw these every month, but that’s just how it works for me! Everything is on here from tests and quizzes, work, sorority events, and even blog posts and video uploads. I find that having the monthly calendar in use really gives me an overall view of everything for the month so I can plan accordingly. IMG_0378

To Do Lists

What’s a planner without to do lists? To do lists are a great way for me to write out all the assignments and things due so that I can visualize them all in one place. Here is where I write anything and everything I need to get done from going to the gym, filming, writing blog posts, homework, tests to studying for, and more. Most of these lists I just use on going and add more items each day. Some days you’ll see I even write a little about how my day went or how I was feeling. IMG_0377

Chapter Reports

Being on my sororities council I have to give reports each week during our chapters. I tell them anything to do with my position that they need to be informed of. This is where I also write other people’s dates and events that I need to put in my planner.

The rest of my planner is dedicated to addresses, birthdays, test planning, blog and youtube ideas, and pretty much anything I feel I need to write down. This notebook is essentially my catch all place for all my thoughts and ideas that I don’t want to forget. What planner do you use and how do you organize yours? I love new ideas so please comment down below!

The Best Way to Spend a Rainy Day

IMG_0357

Where I live, the past few days have been nothing but down poor and drizzle, so I thought I’d share with y’all The Best Way To Spend a Rainy Day.

1. Pamper Yourself

You know those bath bombs from Lush you’ve been dying to use? Or that new body scrub that you can’t wait to try? Pull them out, start a bath and indulge. Rainy days are the perfect way time to catch on you time and really spoil yourself. Take a book with you, put your phone on airplane mode and spend time relaxing and de-stressing.

2. Catch Up On Netflix

Probably my favorite thing to do on rainy days is to bundle myself up in my bed and watch endless amounts of Netflix. I’m currently addicted to Weeds and The Office. With school being so hectic around finals and most week days it’s nice to take this time to do something I enjoy, being lazy, haha.

3. Yoga and Meditation

It may sound lame and cliche, but yoga and meditation are great for one’s healthy and incredibly relaxing. I recently have been into meditation specifically because it is the time for me where I can let all my worries go away and focus on breathing steady and my self. Promise it’s easy and you won’t regret it if you try it!

4. Be productive

Have a paper you need to finish? Pile of laundry adding up? Really wanted to sort through your old clothes? Now is the time to do it! Since you probably aren’t trying to go out in the rain, it is prime time for getting all the things done that you’ve been putting off for weeks now. Once you’ve finished one task chances are you’ll be so motivated and energized you’ll probably start another!

Rainy days are perfect for relaxing and even catching up on other tasks, either way I hope you all enjoy your day and maybe use one or two of these activities the next time you have a rainy day ahead of you!

Till next time y’all,

Lauren

How I Stay Organized

Blog 1

Between college classes, Kappa Delta, work, and blogging my life can get a little hectic. It is essential for me to stay organized or else I simply go crazy and can’t get anything done. Here are a few ways I stay organized which will hopefully help you stay organized as well!

1. My Planner!

This is a huge part in how I stay organized. I use my monthly calendar to keep track of all due dates, events, blog posts, or anything else in my life!

One way I organize the calendar is by color coding different things. For example everything for class is in orange, everything for Kappa Delta is in green (obvi) and so on.

2. To Do Lists

My to do lists are in the same notebook as my monthly calendar so it is easy for me to access both and flip back and forth. Sometimes I’ll do daily lists or even just a running list of long term things that need to be done. This way once I’ve finished a task I can cross it off (this makes me more excited to finish other things).

I also keep a running list of things that can only be done on my computer on the Stickies app for MacBooks. It’s just a sticky note on my desktop where a keep important things to finish!

3. Check School Websites and E-mail

Most colleges have a website they use where teachers put assignments, quizzes, grades, syllabi, and more information. Now if your teachers are anything like mine they update these things all the time with projects and assignments we have to do and never inform us! So, it is extremely important for me to check these daily so I don’t miss anything.

E-mail is another important thing to check daily. I think I check mine at least 100 times a day. Checking it frequently is important so that you don’t miss any class cancelations, new assignments, important e-mails, and more.

These are just a few of the ways I keep myself organized in school and at home! If y’all have any tips you’d like to share please don’t hesitate!

Lilly Pulitzer for Target

Apri 19th, only 11 days until the infamous Lilly Pulitzer for Target line launches. People have been going crazy over this and aren’t quite sure what to think yet. I personally have looked at the lookbook and think there are a lot of cute pieces, however they are not true Lilly Pulitzer and that is evident in the quality. I have picked out a few of my favorite pieces that I look forward to purchasing however!

Screen Shot 2015-04-08 at 9.32.09 AM Screen Shot 2015-04-08 at 9.32.24 AM Screen Shot 2015-04-08 at 9.31.47 AM Screen Shot 2015-04-08 at 9.31.35 AM Screen Shot 2015-04-08 at 9.31.08 AM

I am obsessing over these pieces, I especially love the makeup bags in the collection and can’t wait to see what they look like in person!

What is something from the new line you can’t wait to get your hands on?
